Do I have to be a student to take this course?
While it may appear to be a college level course, Theatre 101 most certainly is not! It is open to the general public and while you will learn a great deal about the inner workings of Broadway you will have a blast.
What are the Monday night symposiums like?
The “classroom” portion of Theatre 101 is almost as exciting as the Broadway shows. Part of the time is devoted to a panel discussion with the actors and other artists who brought the show we saw or about to see to life. We spend a large time sharing our impressions of the shows and learning how they were put together. We cover topics ranging from theater history to production anecdotes to how to how the show got from the page to the stage.
What time do we meet?
The Monday evenings are from 7pm to 10pm. The Broadway shows all start at 8pm and vary in running time, usually somewhere between 2 and 2.5 hours.
Can I bring a guest to the shows?
The more the merrier. On most shows, purchasing additional guest tickets will be made available in class. Since this is our inaugural semester, we encourage bringing friends and family to the shows. Why not buy a double membership and bring a different friend each week?
How do I get my tickets?
Tickets will be distributed the Monday evening prior to our Wednesday night show.
How do you pick which shows we will see?
We try to provide a good cross section of the hottest shows about to open on Broadway. We select both plays and musicals, new shows and revials.
I really want to join Theatre 101, but I can’t make one of the productions. Is there anyway you can reschedule a ticket for me?
Unfortunately, we can’t promise we can honor every request, but we will make an effort to rearrange your ticket.
Theatre 101 seems terrific, can I take it more than once?
Absolutely! Each semester will be a new collection of shows. We hope you will join us again and again.
Free bonus shows? Tell me more!
During the semester, participants currently enrolled in Theatre 101 will be offered complimentary tickets to a variety of New York productions. An email will be sent highlighting these offers.
Tell me about the referral program?
Theatre 101’s success is largely based on word of mouth. As a thank you, members who successful get their friends to join Theatre 101 become permanent members of the Bonus Show Club. That means you will continue to be offered free tickets to New York productions even after the semester is over.
Do I have to take the post show survey?
Not at all, but the data helps us during class discussions and gives valuable input to the producers of the productions we attend.
This sounds an awful lot like Movies 101?
That’s because it is. Instead of discovering the world of film, we discover the world of broadway! |
